Seaweed Fest 2025 is now live!
Our seaweeds are under threat, but out of sight and out of mind for most. Love Rimurimu wants to put them in the spotlight - providing different ways to engage with our wonderful rimurimu.
Love Rimurimu are proud to announce the first ever Seaweed Festival for Aotearoa. Seaweed Fest 2025 will celebrate our underwater forests with events happening across Wellington, Te Whanganui-a-Tara, from the 1st to the 9th of March 2025.
The event line-up for Seaweed Fest 2025 includes behind the scenes tours of Te Papa’s seaweed collections, a mystery movie event at the Roxy, community exhibitions, sea-swims, saunas and guided snorkels. There will also be public talks from seaweed experts, seaweed feasts, sea-shanties and seaweed-inspired gins! We can’t wait to have you join us.
Love Rimurimu is a project piloting the regeneration of seaweed forests in Te Upoko o te Ika a Maui.
