Let’s look after our waitarakao together this Seaweek!

Join Our Waitarakao and Environment Canterbury for a community beach cleanup focusing on the beautiful lagoon area.
From 1pm - 3pm. Come for the whole time or drop in when you can - all ages welcome (with parent supervision).

Seaweek is all about celebrating and protecting our connection with the moana. Removing rubbish helps keep wildlife safe, and maintains this special place for everyone.

How it will work on the day:
Meet: Park at Bridge Rd and walk down the access track to the beach and meet us there.
Briefing: A quick rundown on safety, the cleanup zones, and any sensitive areas to avoid.
Cleanup: Spread out in pairs or small groups to collect rubbish along the shoreline and lagoon edge.
Drop-off: Return your filled bags to the sign in area for sorting and disposal.
Wrap-up: We’ll tally up what we collected and share highlights.

What to bring:
A rubbish bag (bring your own if possible; a few spares available)
Sturdy footwear for sand and uneven ground
A water bottle
Optional: Gloves, high viz vest, sunblock and hat.
