Cancellations/Postponements

Events are weather dependent. Stay updated by checking the Mountains to Sea Wellington Facebook event listings for any cancellations, postponements, or location changes.

A note on water quality- We are keeping a close eye on the situation at Moa Point Wastewater Treatment Plant and the impact to Wellington’s South Coast. As this event is taking place in Wellington Harbour, there are currently no concerns to water quality due to the Moa Point spill. As well monitoring the impact of this spill, please be assured we are always monitoring water quality ahead of snorkel events. Often, after heavy rain, water quality can dip due to runoff via stormwater pipes. This affects not only visibility, but in-water safety. MTSW only ever operates when LAWA shows a green (safe to swim) water quality rating.

We encourage you to take public transport if you can. Map your journey here

Accessibility

There is accessible parking and toilets at Scorching Bay. There is access via beach wheelchair to the beach area and the area in front of the beach is fully accessible. We have a variety of options to enable a more comfortable experience in the water including flotation aids and 1:1 support from our trained guides. Please get in touch with us at events@mtsw.org.nz in advance of the event to discuss your accessibility requirements, including to enquire about beach wheelchair assistance, we love helping people to experience our marine environment!

The snorkelling in this event is run under the Health and Safety of the Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust programme Experiencing Marine Reserves. Adventure Activity Certified – AA0534.
